Content Flipping and Membership Sites Lab Update

January 19th, 2008

Here is a quick update on these two lab assignments.

I have a bit of a head start on the this particular content flipping lab and didn’t start it from scratch (but I will on the second phase of this lab) like I have to do with the membership sites. I already had PLR content that was rewritten, the site designed, indexed in all 3 major search engines with PageRank, and receiving steady traffic. Now all I need is a place to sell the site that gets traffic and potential buyers.

I wanted to do this quickly and easily. There are a few avenues that I could take to sell the site and I quickly analyzed each one and made a decision. The options that I considered were eBay, Digital Point Forum, and Site Point Marketplace. I considered eBay but it is something that I’m not too familiar with from the selling standpoint, although I’ve won quite a few auctions, and I wanted to sell the site as quickly as possible. I took a look at using Digital Points forum and it looks like it would be a good choice so I decided to briefly investigate it further.

Before you can post a site for sell, you have to make at least 25 posts. Yeah, there goes my quickly and easily on this one but I was okay with that if there was a history of good payouts for quality sites. I took a look at some of the bid prices for sites and also looked at what some members appraised the value of sites to be worth. I got the feeling that if I sold my site there that I may leave money on the table looking at what the sites were being sold for and their appraised values. I decided to keep selling the site on Digital Point as an option but wanted to see what Site Point had to offer.

I looked at the Site Point marketplace to see what sites sold for on average and how auctioning my site in their marketplace worked. What I found was that members there are willing to pay competitively for quality sites. Yes, it even put a smile on my face to see what the going prices for some of the websites were.

So I gathered information about my site, wrote a description about it, made some screen shots as proof, paid a $20 auction listing fee, and hoped to get a query or two from a potential buyer. The next day there was a BIN bid for the site. I’m working out the details now but I’ll say that this method works.

The membership part of this lab is not developing as fast. Supplying the content for the membership site is not a problem for me but designing the site and creating the sales copy is. With that said, I’ve enlisted the help of some “lab partners” to do those tasks for me. I’m still working out a few details though.

That’s it for now!

Content Flipping and Membership Sites Lab

January 16th, 2008

I’m a subscriber to a couple membership sites that provide ideas and simple ways to make money on the Internet. There were two methods of making money that seemed to grab my attention more than any of the others at this point. The methods are flipping websites and selling them and creating low cost membership sites.

The concept of flipping websites is not new but it is something that can pay off fairly well with only a few hours of work.

Creating low cost membership sites is something that is very intriguing because if you can create 5 to 10 membership sites with about 100 members each priced between $4.95 to $9.95, you can make from $2,400 to $9,000 per month with little or no maintenance.

So with that said it’s lab time. Over the next few weeks, I’m going to flip a few websites and create a couple low cost membership sites to see what results I get and ultimately if you can use these two methods to make you money.

I’ll keep you posted.
